5 ways to practise French speaking every day6 Nov 2026 · 2 min read

You don’t need a partner to improve your speaking. A few minutes a day is enough to build the habit.

  1. Read aloud. Take a short text and read it out loud for five minutes. Focus on rhythm and clear sounds.
  2. Shadow an audio clip. Play a short French clip and repeat it a moment after the speaker.
  3. Describe your day. Speak for one minute about what you did today and record it on your phone.
  4. Learn phrases, not single words. Whole phrases help you speak faster and sound more natural.
  5. Listen back weekly. Compare your recordings and notice what has improved.
How to start preparing for the TCF or TEF6 Nov 2026 · 2 min read

A clear plan saves months of effort. Here is a simple way to begin.

  1. Know your target. Check which result your university or immigration goal needs.
  2. Find your starting point. Try a mock test so you know your level today.
  3. Plan your week. Give time to all four skills: listening, reading, speaking and writing.
  4. Practise under timing. Do some tasks with a timer so exam day feels familiar.
  5. Track your progress. Repeat a mock test every few weeks and compare.
Common mistakes in exam writing, and how to avoid them6 Nov 2026 · 2 min read

Most writing mistakes are easy to fix once you know what to look for.

  1. Overly complex sentences. Short, correct sentences beat long ones with errors.
  2. Skipping the task. Read the instructions twice and answer exactly what is asked.
  3. Forgetting agreement. Check gender, number and verb endings before you finish.
  4. Running out of time. Leave a few minutes at the end to proofread.
